20 North Gallery and the artists will be welcoming friends and collectors at the free Public Reception for Flights of Fancy on Friday, January 24, from 6 – 9 p.m.
The exhibit continues through March 22, 2025.
In 2025, the distinctive works of Carrie Hawkins and Matt Tisdale will be featured, providing surrealist and dreamlike scenes in this 2-person exhibit of paintings and collage.
The Flights of Fancy exhibit will enchant viewers through the imaginative artworks of Columbus, Ohio painter Matt Tisdale and Temperance, Michigan collage artist Carrie Hawkins. The exhibiting works range from small-scale mixed media artworks to 3 & 4-foot-wide paintings on paper & panel. Hawkins will present pieces from her Dreamscapes series in wood, fiber & more. Tisdale will present paintings in acrylic and oil, in his signature neo-surrealist style.
Carrie Hawkins (Temperance, Michigan) received her Associate of Applied Business from Davis College (Toledo, Ohio) and her Bachelor of Arts from The University of Toledo (Ohio). For three decades, Hawkins has regularly participated in juried group exhibitions across the United States and recently in Ontario, Canada. As a frequent contributor to arts festivals, Hawkins has shown work in Art Basel (Miami Beach, Florida), ArtPrize (Grand Rapids, Michigan), Art on the Mall (Toledo, Ohio) and the Crosby Festival of the Arts (Toledo Botanical Garden, Toledo, Ohio) among others. She currently serves as Vice President of the Toledo Craftsman’s Guild (Ohio), of which she has been a member since 2006.
Matt Tisdale (Westerville, Ohio) received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art and Design (Ohio). Tisdale completed commercial and residential mural work before entering his career in graphic design and illustration, through which he has worked for clients such as Hollister Co. Tisdale’s paintings have been exhibited across the United States in juried shows and arts festivals, including the Black Swamp Arts Festival (Bowling Green, Ohio), Spectrum Fantastic Art Live (Kansas City, Missouri), Art Birmingham (Birmingham, Michigan) and Art in the Loop (Memphis, Tennessee). His work has been accepted multiple times into the annual Crosby Festival of the Arts in Toledo Botanical Garden (Ohio), through which he was recently awarded Second Place in Painting in 2024.
