A solo exhibit of new and legacy artworks in the artist’s signature style of magical realism
20 North Gallery is pleased to present Robert Garcia: All Sides Now, a retrospective solo exhibition of Northwest Ohio artist Robert Garcia’s new and legacy artworks, in his signature style of magical realism. The exhibit includes oil paintings, watercolor paintings, paper mâché, ceramics and bronze sculpture.
From whirling skies and fantastical landscapes to energetic abstracts, the paintings and sculptures of Robert Garcia have long been delighting viewers and igniting imaginations.

The exhibit will open with a free, Public Reception on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 6 – 9 p.m.
The exhibit continues through December 21, 2024.
The captivating works of museum-collected artist Robert Garcia have delighted Northwest Ohio viewers for five decades. Comprising his solo exhibit, Robert Garcia: All Sides Now, are curated artworks from throughout his artistic career, in addition to the debut of new pieces. This exhibit features works on canvas and panel, as well as pieces suitable for pedestal display.
Robert Garcia (Whitehouse, Ohio) has lived in the Toledo, Ohio area for 65 years where he has enjoyed a distinguished 50-year career in the arts. His formal art education began at The University of Toledo (Ohio), through which he was awarded a fellowship to the Yale Summer School of Music and Art (Norfolk, Connecticut). He earned a Master of Fine Art from Ohio State University in 1975. Since retiring from a four-decade career as an arts instructor for Toledo Public schools, Garcia has continued producing and exhibiting his painting and sculpture which explore the wonders of nature in a combination of representative and abstract styles.

Garcia began exhibiting his work during his university studies through a solo exhibit at The University of Toledo and the Toledo Museum of Art (Ohio). At this time, his work began to be accepted into the annual Toledo Area Artists Exhibition (TAAE), through which he earned frequent juried honors, receiving the TAAE Purchase Award in 1988. Garcia has long since continued to exhibit his work regionally, nationally and internationally, including in Canada and Spain. In addition to the 20 North Gallery solo retrospective Robert Garcia: All Sides Now, Garcia’s work is currently on view at the Toledo Museum of Art in Expanding Horizons: The Evolving Character of a Nation.
He has completed commissioned sculpture and murals for the Aurora Gonzales Community Center (Toledo, Ohio), the Heatherdowns and Birmingham branches of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library (Ohio), Toledo Repertoire Theatre (Ohio), Westgate Village Shopping Center (Toledo, Ohio), Schedel Arboretum and Gardens (Elmore, Ohio), the Aviary and Reptile House at the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium (Ohio) and more. His work forms part of numerous permanent, public, private and corporate collections of institutions including Toledo Federation of Art Societies (Elmore, Ohio), The Arts Commission (Toledo, Ohio), The University of Toledo, Toledo Botanical Garden (Ohio) and the Toledo Museum of Art (Ohio).
