Artist debuts seven additional paintings at 20 North Gallery’s Toy Stories Opening Reception

On Friday, January 11, 2019 Aaron Pickens debuts seven never-before-seen paintings created specifically for his Toy Stories solo exhibit at the show’s opening reception from 6 – 9 p.m.

Bright and whimsical, arcane and nostalgic, meticulously composed and deeply symbolic, Pickens’ paintings of toy tableaux are dedicated observations that interpret the creative act of child’s play through the adult lens of consequence and social justice—sometimes nonsensical, sometimes disturbing and, somehow, always fun.
In celebration of the unveiling, 20 North Gallery invites friends and collectors to explore the creative side of play at their “interactive” Toy Stories opening event, stating that, “It will be more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!”
Who ever said great art had to be so serious?

The exhibit continues through March 30.
