On Saturday, February 8, from 4 – 7 p.m. 20 North Gallery and the exhibiting artist of Intense Adornment, L. Sue Szabo, will be welcoming friends and collectors at a free Artist Demo “open house” event. Guests will learn about the artist’s process through a detailed demonstration with an opportunity for conversation with the artist at the brief reception to follow.

Though torch-fire enameling is a traditional and stunning jewelry technique, art enameling programs are becoming less accessible to metalsmiths. Exhibiting artist Szabo will demonstrate the process of enameling on copper, giving attendees an opportunity to experience this traditional technique that is becoming a lost art form. Additionally, Szabo will share insight into her techniques in forging as well as other techniques used in her fine art jewelry.

The event begins at 4 p.m. with an “open house” reception featuring a cash bar by Venue. L. Sue Szabo will present from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Following the demonstration, attendees may enjoy one-on-one conversation with the artist at the reception where she will share her thoughts on artworks in the exhibit until 7 p.m.

In addition, guests will have the hands-on opportunity to make a small enameled medallion, as well as consult with Szabo about repurposing jewelry items already in their possession.

The event is free and open to the public.

R.s.v.p. for the event is not required, but appreciated, as attendees will have hands-on opportunity to create their own small, enameled copper medallions:
