The Encaustic Medium – Three Artists’ Perspectives
On Sunday, November 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., Toledo Federation of Art Societies (TFAS) will host a session of artist talks and a demonstration at 20 North Gallery, featuring three of the exhibited artists of the TFAS100+3: Juried Members’ Exhibit – Christine Deemer, Beth Genson and Margaret Lockwood-Lass. The event will explore these contemporary artists’ use of encaustic, an ancient medium of pigmented beeswax, to create their distinctive and varied artworks.
Doors will open at 2 p.m., so that patrons may view the exhibit prior to the demonstration. During the presentation, light refreshments will be served by Venue lounge.
The event marks the first in a series of member-artist presentations prepared by TFAS, celebrating the TFAS100+3 exhibit.
This fun and illuminating presentation will begin with an encaustic painting demonstration and Question & Answer session by Beth Genson, who will be sharing techniques utilized in her two encaustic oil paintings on display, Cavitation and River Rise.
Following Genson’s demonstration, encaustic and mixed media artists Christine Deemer and Margaret Lockwood-Lass will share insights on how they incorporate different encaustic techniques in their own works, as seen in their art exhibited in TFAS100+3. A second Question & Answer session will follow their talk.
To maintain social distancing, only 15 attendees will be permitted to enter the gallery. The demonstration, talks and question times will also be live-streamed on Facebook: @ToledoFederationofArtSocieties
The event is free and open to the public, although due to space limitations, reservations are required. To reserve a seat, contact 20 North Gallery at 419-241-2400 or email@example.com by 6 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2020.
