In an interesting intersection of human and nature, the works on paper in this exhibit by Brand and Wagner challenge assumptions about the art of portraiture and plein air landscape. The captivating landscapes of Paul Brand are constructed with an abstract approach. His dramatic use of contrast and sensitivity for visual texture result in ethereal representations of real locations. The collages of Anastasia Wagner combine mediums and subjects to create portraits that blend portraiture with florals. Her application of painting mediums adds subtle physical texture to her works on paper.
