We all need beauty in our lives – now more than ever.

A solo exhibit of the captivating fine art presentation work and timeless adornment pieces of Toledo artist L. Sue Szabo
As we enter the final weeks of this bold exhibit, many ‘fan-favorite’ pieces have already been purchased, however a compelling selection of new and striking pieces in the exhibit remain available to collectors.
Although the March 20 Closing Reception for Intense Adornment has been cancelled (as a result of the Ohio Governor’s ban on mass gatherings and restaurant operations to curb the spread of COVID-19), 20 North Gallery remains open for virtual exploration through our updated catalogue and price list of Szabo’s exhibited art jewelry exhibitions. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m., or visitors may set a private appointment to view the exhibit through Facetime, now on display through April 7.
With the closure of large cultural destinations, such as theatres, zoos and museums, our small and quiet establishment welcomes you to visit— online through our updated catalogue or via Facetime appointment
either remotely or in-person—and enjoy a beautiful respite from the stresses of these unprecedented times. We are always happy to see you, whether you come to look or to buy, both long-time patrons and those new to our gallery.Embrace beauty and be well – Condessa Croninger & Eric Hillenbrand, 20 North Gallery
The public is invited to enjoy our current exhibit through a “virtual reception” to view the artwork.
Typically, for gallery security and to safeguard our artists, our policy has been to not publish online the prices of artwork on display in special exhibitions—but in order to make the extraordinary work of Sue Szabo more accessible to our patrons in this time of social distancing, we have posted on our website an updated catalogue and price list of Szabo’s exhibited art jewelry. Support of the arts and artists is crucial to a culturally-healthy society.
We all need beauty in our lives, now more than ever.
The public may view the artwork remotely by visiting the 20 North Gallery Intense Adornment updated catalogue & price list.
Messages of congratulation to the artist on the success of her exhibit will be conveyed to Sue Szabo …And purchases of this exquisite art jewelry may be made either in person, or via telephone.
In addition to the current exhibit, 20 North Gallery continues to display glass, paintings, jewelry and artists’ cards by noted artists of the region. The Intense Adornment exhibit continues through April 7, 2020.

The Intense Adornment exhibit features the intricate fine art presentation works of Szabo, complemented by her timeless adornment pieces. Having over 25 years of metalsmithing experience, Szabo creates dramatic geometric pieces that exemplify her innate skill for imagery through forged metals and enamel.
Simultaneously bold and intricate, Szabo’s meticulously crafted fine art jewelry pieces are equally engaging as independent works of wall-mounted or table-top sculpture as they are as articles of adornment. Through the use of traditional techniques and non-conventional materials, precious metals and gemstones, her fine hand and acute attention to detail enhance the intensity of her visual and tactile messaging—whether playful, poignant or profound.
L. Sue Szabo (Toledo, Ohio) began practicing medicine in 1988, receiving an M.D. through the Medical College of Ohio (Toledo, Ohio) while studying art through national workshops, the Toledo Museum of Art (Toledo, Ohio) and the University of Toledo in Ohio.

Now retired from medical practice, Szabo focuses on metalsmithing and other art endeavors. With over 25 years of metalsmithing experience, Szabo’s artworks have appeared in scores of national and international museum shows, invitational and juried, receiving numerous awards, including First awards in the annual Materials: Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition (Denton, Texas) and Best Of Ohio Designer Craftsmen (Ohio Craft Museum, Columbus, Ohio).
Szabo has completed impressive commission work, including a major sculptural work for the JP Morgan headquarters in London and a 750-piece enamel sculpture for the British cruise ship the MV Brittania. Szabo’s metal works appear in over 20 books and publications including Art Jewelry Today 4, Tales from the Toolbox and The Art of Fine Enameling 2nd Edition. Several of Szabo’s recent artworks have been selected to appear in Out of This World: Jewelry in the Space Age, an upcoming exhibit at the Tellus Science Museum in Atlanta, Georgia.
